Installation of Can you see me now?
shown at UNFAIR23, 16 - 19 November 2023.

Can you see me now?, is a collection of works that originate from a feeling of being unheard as women in our society. This has always been a theme I work with, but this year it was more evident to me than ever. With events like the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and the the brutal suppression of the feminist revolution in Iran, it seems like we are turning back in time. These events make clear that there is still no such thing as the right of a woman or girl to make autonomous decisions about her own body, or to speak for herself, in so many places.

It left me with a sense of hopelessness that we, as a society, cannot seem to find a way to see man and women as equals. To turn this hopelessness into something positive I started creating these altars, to honor the woman and feminine energy in all of us. The pieces are created as physical places for reflection, to take a moment, and to awaken a new energy which we can use in our fight to take back our rights.
